Carmen Mártires: 300-seats room. Open air reception area: 1500 people

Palace with garden with an artificial lake inside. It owns a deep tree area with botanical specimens. Very interesting.

The Carmen de los Mártires comprises much more than the typical concept of the “Carmen” granadino. These estates whose names named the city itself are usually small or medium-sized, on different levels with water flows which allow the watering of their gardens and orchards, which at the same time form part of the house itself. They have panoramic views to La Alhambra, the valley, the Sierra Nevada or the Albayzín quarter. They are priviliged viewpoints of the surrounding landscape. Its name comes from the Latin “carmen” (grapevine) as it is one of the typical plants that decore these houses.

Los Mártires is the largest “carmen” occupying more than 7 Ha (ca. 750,000 sq. ft.) even after the partition carried out by M. Meersman who gave his nephew a part of it. The cultivate design of its different-styled gardens, its lake and forest make its garden complex as one of the most importants in Granada. Its history, artistic elements and spectacular views of the city, the valley and Sierra Nevada contribute to its fame.
