One of the “Ave María” school groups founded by Father Andrés Manjón is located at the first part of Quinta Alegre district. On the left, one could visit the Church of San Antón el Viejo, founded in 1534 by Franciscan monks and lost during the “Enclaustración” period. This is the seat for one of the public “cármenes” of Granada. It dates from the beginning of the 20th century and shares its name with the district where it is located.

Professor Jiménez Yangüas, curator of Architect José Giménez Lacal’s archive, found the plan of 1924 which shows the structural works undertaken in the access to the palace-house and indicating, as well, the gardens and its traces. The garden is in nobiliar style with hedges and floral filigrees. It also has little trees in its central part, irregular rossettes, benches, etc.
