Most notable of this temple located by the Darro River are the extraordinary Mudejar coffered ceiling of the main nave, the transept and the Main Chapel as well as the Renaissance ceiling of the first out of ten chapels, all of them by Juan Vílchez. The design was of Juan de Maeda and the church was finished in 1567. The front, by Pedro de Orea, is one of the main examples of the Renaissance in Andalusia at the end of the 16th century.
