GARDENS AT PLAZA DE LA TRINIDAD
Plaza de la Trinidad
Between Duquesa and Mesones streets we find the central square of Plaza de la Trinidad.
The land was ceded in 1893 by the national government to the city in order to build this square. It has suffered many reforms and restoration works. The most important ones were the undertaken at the beginning of the 20th century by Mayor Juan Ramón Lachica and in 1947 by Gallego Burín who reformed it “following its old trace”. Some new benches and press shops were then installed. Further reform works preserved this design with radial paths under a deep tree area by beautiful “par-terres”. In the centre there is a beautiful octogonal fountain from the 18th century which was moved from the former convent located in this area.
