The campus is located on the lands planned in 1944 to be the Great Park of the city. The construction works of the University facilities began in 1977 including the designin of a garden located at Severo Ochoa street with Avenida de la Constitución, limited by Rector Marín Ocete street.
The University Park at Fuente Nueva was subsidized by the Granada City Council, Enviromental Institute “ICONA” and the Botanic department of the University of Granada. Surrounded by a fence, this garden area has five entries. However, only three are usually opened. The wide range of tree and bush specimens are placed at random, showing an extreme naturality pattern with different little hills. There is a bronze sculpture with curved lines by Moreno Romera (1977).It has a station for the monitoring of the air quaility. The park has different containers for recyclating purposes.
