The New Gate (Puerta Nueva) got its name because it was closed during Arab times due to supersticious reasons. The Christians reopened this gate.
It is also known as Gate of the Weights (Puerta de las Pesas) because the merchants used to place there fake weights. They can still be seen on the top of the arch.
It dates from the 11th century.
