GREETINGS FROM THE MAYOR

Granada is in fact an accumulation of heritage, of histories and experiences that are spilled from the hill of the Generalife over the city. But Granada is a bustling city that is full of youth and joy thanks to its displays of culture. Around every corner of Granada there are new things to discover. Yo can discover the fact that the Catholic Monarchs ar buried in the city; that Brother Luis preached here; that Granada is where Eugenie, Empress of France, wife of Napoleon III was born and that Federico García Lorca used to sit over there. On top of all this you can hear the faint Albéniz music from the Alhambra while you gaze at the Albaicín district. Granada is a set of different sensations worthy of being experimented.
Contemplation, being moved by something and enjoying life are three good reasons to visit our city. Contemplating its heritage, its light and its landscapes make us see a different type of city from every different angle. Being touched by our Holy Week, by the flamenco, by an opera or by a Lorca´s play; and enjoying its corners, its festivities and its gastronomy; Granada is a very easy walking city without great walking distances.
There is a wide supply of pretty much anything in Granada with shops becoming more modernised every year but still maintaining a very personal role with customers. An evening shopping in Granada is an experience not to be missed. There are also many other surprising activities to be enjoyed in the city; learning how to use the medicinal flora of the Darro Valley and preparing natural remedies (such as soaps, oils, ointments) in the Interpretation Centre of the Sacromonte, or attending belly dance and flamenco courses from one day to a whole month. Granada surprises its visitors with new proposals, from the classic to the most vanguard ones.
Granada is a perfect city for children and adults, for traditional and audacious people, for sports people and contemplative ones, for artists and amateurs, for boys and girls…. and for all kind of people; for this reason and as Mayor of Granada, I earnestly invite you to visit and to enjoy our city.
